MONCTON, New Brunswick — The New Brunswick Board of Education has just awarded a new $3 million contract to a school in the city of Moncton.

The board’s decision came Tuesday, March 9, 2018.

The contract covers two years, with a final offer expected in late 2019.

Monctons first charter school will be opened this fall.

The school, called Montes Quai, will open its doors next spring.

Moncs Quai is an all-girls, all-boys school, with the focus on health and wellness.

It’s part of the city’s $25 million investment in the school’s building.

It will be a single-site school with an integrated learning system.

It includes both pre-kindergarten and grade two.

This will include a pre- and post-secondary education for the entire school year, with an emphasis on pre-secondary studies.

Moncntons school board is also proposing to build a new facility on the same site, called the New Brunswick Learning Centre, that will be home to about 25 students, including one teacher.

This facility will be funded by the city.

New Brunswick is the first municipality in New Brunswick to open a charter school.

It started in 2018 and has already opened four in the province.

The province has pledged $200 million to help fund the school.

The new charter school in Monctont is expected to open in 2019.

More to come.
