ielms test transfer: Irish Football League’s League One side are set to test the waters with an attempt to sign a young Englishman from Cardiff.
The Irish Examiner reports the Cardiff City academy is close to completing the signing of 19-year-old winger Ryan Jackman.
The club confirmed on Monday that Jackman had joined the club’s academy from the Welsh club in January, with the winger moving to the Premier League on a permanent deal.
Jackman has been a revelation for the Blues this season, and has made 14 appearances for the League One outfit.
He scored a hat-trick against West Bromwich Albion in the club-league on Sunday, helping the Blues beat the Baggies 4-2.
Jackmarch is the second teenager to sign for the Cardiff side this season.
Jackman was a late addition to the club during the summer transfer window, and he impressed in his first game for the club.
The former Swansea City forward impressed in the win over Crystal Palace, scoring the winner with a deflected shot from 20 yards.
Jackmen will be competing with former Swansea striker Ryan Shawcross for a starting spot, and is currently in the running to start at right-back.
Jackman is expected to be part of a group of teenage players that includes Jack McGrath, Samir Carruthers and Liam Brennan.
Jack, McGrath and Brennan are the only players on the senior squad to have made the cut to the senior Ireland squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
