How the NRL got its foot in the door of Sydney’s NRL club

The NRL will be celebrating its 70th anniversary next year and the league is looking to lure another big name to the game.

Melbourne Storm and Melbourne Storm of the NRL will face off in the 2018/19 grand final in Sydney, with the finals on the weekend of November 2-4.

The Storm will be led by current Warriors coach Brad Arthur who will oversee the game at Suncorp Stadium.

The Warriors will also have star winger Taniela Tupou, who is on the NSW Selects squad for the 2018-19 season, as they prepare to face the Storm at Suntec Stadium.

Newcastle Knights coach Anthony Griffin will take charge of the club, with coach David Furner stepping down after this season.

In his first game at the club after being appointed the coach of the Raiders in October 2017, Griffin is the only current Newcastle player who will be in charge of a club that finished in the bottom three last season.

The Raiders finished the season in the top two, with Griffin taking over from former Raiders captain James Tedesco who had been sacked last year.

“The club has a long history in the NRL, but this is a great opportunity for us to establish a new standard for excellence,” said Griffin.

He will be joined in charge by former Warriors and Knights star Ben Hunt, who will take over from Furner, who was also an assistant coach with the Storm in the 2014/15 season.

The NRL is also looking to attract another big-name to the club.

The New South Wales Warriors have been tipped to land a marquee marquee player as a marquee player in the National League.

The club is expected to be led in the New South Welsh by current NRL premiership player Luke Lewis, who played with the Warriors at the time.

Lewis is the most decorated player in NSW Warriors history and is one of the game’s most talented hookers.

The 28-year-old is a key player for the Warriors, who are hoping to turn their fortunes around after finishing eighth last season and were in contention to win the premiership.

The Knights will have experienced prop Shaun Johnson who is set to play his second NRL season in 2017 and has played for many NRL clubs.

Johnson is the former NSW Warriors player of the year.

Former Knights and Raiders winger Ben Hunt will be on the sidelines in 2018, but will be looking to take over the reins for the club and coach in the event that a marquee signing is required.

Former NRL player of its own, former Canberra Raiders and Canberra Raiders star James Ted, will be back for the Knights as the club looks to win a third consecutive NRL title.

Hunt played in all but three of the Warriors’ games last season as he finished as the NRL’s top hooker.

Hunter was a key member of the Knights’ squad that finished runners-up to the Bulldogs in the 2017 NRL season.
